Off to Barriere

Off to Barriere today, which we were told was named after the river where it had to fight a channel through the barrier of mountains. This little valley 65 Km north of Kamloops had a forest fire go through here in 2003 and the whole town was evacuated. The hillsides, for miles, are filled with millions of black dead trees. Pete and Vicki are building their house in a lovely newer area, unscathed by the fire. It arrived yesterday, was offloaded, put together and today the siding and roof are going on. They’ve designed a terrific floor plan and it is going to be great. Their 2 sons and families are here so it was fun to meet them and visit with Pete and Vicki.
