On the Road Again-Across Arizona to Deming NM

Happy birthday Ronnie! What a way to celebrate. Ron's always said he'd love to see the Tiffin factory and finally got his wish. So we're starting to drive halfway across America.
We left Pete and Vicki at the Leaf Verde RV Park, which we really enjoyed and headed for Love's to fuel up with Diesel at $2.08.9/gallon. We were amused to see a 'Pinky Tow' wrecker picking up a vehicle and as we left there was a rainbow overhead under a sky filled with clouds and we had sprinkles of rain. It's 50 degrees. Today we drove down to I 10 due to ice and snow up on I 40 Flagstaff so are taking the lower route I 10 to cross Arizona. This state is the 6th largest, has a population of 5 million with Phoenix as the capital. Arizona makes me think of cowboys, Indians, desert and cacti, and today we're passing the sand and saguaro cacti which looks like surprised bandits with their hands held up. Everyone has seen the massive cliffs and deserts of Arizona in car commercials.
You skirt Tucson, which had the highway under repair and was slow driving but finally had blue skies and better road as we drove into New Mexico. They say this state is a mosaic of blue skies, adobe architecture and red rock cliffs. The Gila Cliff Dwelling Monument is about 3 hours north so we wont go there at this time but I'd love to see it someday. There are 7 cavities indented into a 175' cliff which has rooms the Mogollan people lived in during the 13th century, reached by ladders. We passed through an area with tremendous boulders stacked on top of each other and you can see how windy it is with our hair and clothes nearly blown away. Hard driving for Ron.
We reached Deming at 4:20 and parked for the night. Fields of chilies flourish around this area with secondary crops of cotton, onions, pecans, grapes and sorghums. It was sunny and very flat in this area although we fought a head wind blowing us around the highway so were glad to park.
Had a drink to the birthday boy. We were delighted to get calls from CJ and Joan and Chuck and Barb and cracked up to hear that Adele and Bob were joining them, going out for lunch at our favorite Asian Restaurant in Bellingham to celebrate Ron's birthday.
