On the way to this event, we passed the University of Phoenix Stadium which is the home of the NFL Arizona Cardinals. Built in 2006, it has a retractable roof and field and is considered one of the top 10 architectural wonders of the world. It is the size of 111 football fields and lined up, the seats would be 18 miles long. The exterior resembles a barrel cactus and if you double click on the picture, you'll see it has a cardinal bird's head.
Pete, Vicki and I were on the way to historic downtown Glendale's Murphy Park for the Chocolate Affaire where many chocolate Vendors displayed goods and samples. The best was a goat cheese fudge - to die for! It is a 3 day event with the largest gathering of Romance Novelists in the southwest with workshops and autograph signings. It is rated in the top 100 events in North America each year.
The next thing we saw was the statue of the Territorial Sheriff. This is a memorial to the Sheriffs and Rangers in the past and dedicated to the men and women today of the Court, Police and Fire Departments who continue the honorable tradition of defending public safety.
Vicki and I went into a store with tons of blown glass and specialty items from around the world.
The glass was absolutely incredible, the most amazing store either of us had ever seen. This piece Vicki is looking into, is a vase woven of reeds, then completely covered with tiny glass beads. It took the people 3 years to make and was selling for $1500.00. You would have had to pay me a million. It was astounding.
