Celebrating B.C. Day

Jan and I zipped down to the beach and were very impressed with all the activities for families in the Park. There was great music in
the Bandshell with little ones dancing.
                               Fun petting bunnies and Cockateils.
Miss Sunshine was handing out gifts.
This Park is on Semiahmoo land and there was an exhibit of an early First Native village with salmon drying on racks.
There was a car show on the Band land.

This was very well attended over the 3 days, the beach was packed, no parking spots left.

Spanish Banks and Fireworks

We had a super fun day yesterday. We visited Brenda and met Coco, then Peter and Princess dropped in.
It was great to see them both.
We enjoyed Greek food at Sympaticos watching all the traffic,

We settled in front of the 8 volleyball courts at Spanish Banks and enjoyed all the activities. We didn't realize that the players bring their own nets with them. There's actually room for 16 courts.

The Hovercraft came roaring into the bay and stopped by one of the 11 freighters at anchor as we wondered why..
We watched the sunset setting over Gibsons and it was hard to beat.
.At 10 pm, we enjoyed USA's fireworks done by Disney and a neighbour had his boombox playing the corresponding music.
We were across from English Bay so the fireworks over the downtown was very special.

Girl's Weekend at Lummi Island

Celine, Pattie and I went down Thursday after a big shop and Chinese lunch in Bellingham.
We set up the cabin and outbuildings and the first gal arrived at noon Friday.
There are 6 bird feeders beside the porch and the birds were colourful and beautiful.
We loved the lavender fields we went to on Saturday,
A mamma and 2 babies with their spots came visiting.Ann Roszak's photo.

We had hysterical skits after dinner and shared  love and stories around the campfire.

American Independence Day

I rode my bike down to the Peace Arch last night at 9 pm. It was a bit dark for the lovely flowers forming the American flag.
There were fewer people waiting for the fireworks for July 4th, due to the threatening rain.

                           Our flag had more light.
My grandfather and dad from Brown Bros. Florist on Granville St. in Vancouver and Brown Bros. Greenhouses in Haney, created some of the original gardens back in the early 1900's.

The rain started and I was getting soaked so after I'd visited with neighbours huddled under trees, I skipped the fireworks as we'd seen ours July 1. I biked back to my dry home and saw displays of New York and L. A. on the news. Some totally amazing.
Remember this was 9:30 pm. I'll have to go back and take some pictures in sunshine. It's a beautiful park and gardens.

Canada Day - July 1st

We had a great Canada Day party at the park with bocci ball games and 16 players. They all had 3 games, changing partners each time.

Lots of friends and visiting. We're even sporting tattoos.

Of course, BBQ and cake. We had a great time with our super neighbours.

Then we joined our pool friends pool, and fireworks at the Castle.. Fun for all.
