Sleepy Douglas Area Gone Big Time

This little corner of paradise, from 0 Ave to 8th and 176 St. to the Border has always been coveted by neighbours and refused to grow. They had long rectangular lots. The developers started 3 years ago bringing in the sewer and today there are about 300 new homes. It's miles from anywhere, has no bus service and the high density is startling. There is no park space, schools, and nowhere for kids to play. The homes start at $469,900 on a small narrow lot, 2 stories plus basement, with about a 10' yard and go up from there. We always had deer around when we were walking down 0 but not any more. Today I saw 4 clumps of 6 rowhouses in the space that would have been 2 previous lots. All the trees are gone. Hate this progress.
