Sunday Happy Hours

Our block is getting together every Sunday and conversations range from far to wide. Even the dogs are invited.

Great Nephew Simon

I just love email, Skype and today's ease of communication. Our niece Allison sent this picture of her son in Africa.

Sleepy Douglas Area Gone Big Time

This little corner of paradise, from 0 Ave to 8th and 176 St. to the Border has always been coveted by neighbours and refused to grow. They had long rectangular lots. The developers started 3 years ago bringing in the sewer and today there are about 300 new homes. It's miles from anywhere, has no bus service and the high density is startling. There is no park space, schools, and nowhere for kids to play. The homes start at $469,900 on a small narrow lot, 2 stories plus basement, with about a 10' yard and go up from there. We always had deer around when we were walking down 0 but not any more. Today I saw 4 clumps of 6 rowhouses in the space that would have been 2 previous lots. All the trees are gone. Hate this progress.

Going Golfing

The ladies decided we'd go golfing Fridays, so here's our first outing. Lovely sunshine and lots of fun.

The Wonderful Buffet

We went down to Bellingham for shopping and gas and met friends for Chinese Food. This place has really good food and it was a great time for visiting on a rainy day. I get such a kick out of the names Oriental people give to things.

Easter Weekend

We had friends over for a card game, Bid Euchre Saturday and had lots of fun.
Sunday we had a happy hour for everyone on the street. It's very easy, bring your chair, beverage and an appy to eat.

We are loving being back in our home park here by the Border. All the spring flowers are coming out and I'm enjoying them in the 1/2" crystal vase Penny gave me at her garage sale I helped her with last summer - truly, it was an ashtray from the 60's.
We had the gang over for Bid Euchre and Loretta brought me some lovely tulips. Seeing that we were raised in Brown Bros. Greeenhouses in Haney, I love having flowers around. Even a plain Gerber daisy looks pretty.

Home to the RV Park

My trip home was a rainy day but the sun has come back. We enjoyed playing the Bitch with Carol and Roger before they moved to Osoyoos.

Fun Family Time

Suzanne and I went to Church this morning for Palm Sunday. It was very nice with even a procession around to the front door with palms. They have the nicest people in their church. James was out with the Fire Dept. doing a controlled burn of an old house. I made a poster yesterday and Irene and I walked the whole block today in gorgeous sunshine, inviting everyone to a Block Party June 2. There have been 4 new families move in, in the last 6 months so it's time to meet the neighbours. Everyone was very pleased with the idea.
We went down to Secret Beach for a couple of hours, just gorgeous and found friends there. It's 65 steps down and the girls couldn't resist hide and seek behind a tree trunk.
