Jame's New App

James got approval from Apple on Sat. and Google on Sun for a new App he'd submitted to them for approval and his new App, 'the app that gives back', is now up and running. It is a fundraising effort for the Gibson's Volunteer Firefighter's of which he is a volunteer. Local businesses pay a monthly fee for 24/7 exposure on the site for mobile phones and 50% goes to the Fire Dept for equipment and necessary items. The App is downloaded for free and the businesses will attract new business with local promotions. Everybody wins. Congratulations James!!! We even found a tiny bottle of champagne from New Years.

A Learning Curve in Gibsons

Suz and James have a new business converting business websites to mobile sites which display properly on everyone's mobile phones. I am now employed as one of their saleswomen and am having so much fun. I certainly need to learn a lot so away I went on the Canada Line and bus. A new experience for me on a beautiful day with snow on the mountains. I just love their dog Buster who is a delight.
I now know how to Bold, underline, make a PDF file, a Power Point Presentation, Jing, and proposals for the new clients. This is just fun for me after being out of the business world for 9 years and it's all changed. Sure had fun with the kids. Wish I had pictures of the Sechelt pool where we swam Sunday. We went down the slide, swung from the overhead rope, did the climbing wall, played dodge-ball, played tag in the 'lazy river', lazed on rafts and had a blast.

A Circle Tour

Well the snow finally stopped but couldn't make it to Pool Fri. night due to an icy rain here in Abbotsford. Driving was treacherous. By Sat. we were back to the land of the living. It's now 6 C and it feels positively balmy, can you imagine? We must finally have acclimatized. We went down to Bellingham today through the Abbotsford Sumas Border through the Nootsack Valley, renowned for their diary and berry farms. This barn has a huge sign 'got milk?' on the side. We had lunch at Billy McHales Restaurant where they have a little train chugging around a track above you for the whole place. It has a lot of nostalgia with 50's antiques such as an old gas pump and green pressed tin ceilings. Did a monthly shop, including gas at $3.36/gal compared to $5.25 in Canada. Explain to me the difference please. Came back through Blaine and Nexus as we were already there and driving back had the beautiful view of Mt. Baker all along the way.

4th Day of Snow

We are house sitting for our friends and boy! Abbotsford is colder than White Rock. We've had 5-8" snow the past 3 days. You can't get bored as you clear the walk and driveway 3 times a day. Lots has been very light and you can just sweep it away. We're dressed for old man winter. It is pretty but Thur. the wind blew and it was -15. Chilly.

Snow Fun

We woke to 5 inches of snow Sat so visited with the kids on Sun and watched Isaiah and his friend sledding at the school across the street. Lots of fun. Chris and I enjoyed the sunshine and conversation.

Abbotsford - a City in the Country

We drove out here Sunday and Chris came for a visit and removed the car and bike hitchs from the MoHo which is parked in the driveway. Quite the juggling act moving into a house house someone else is living in. They made space for us in closets and dressers bless them, but I've had to take all the food out of the MoHo because it would freeze and explode and the kitchen cupboards are really full now.
We found a lab yesterday for Ron's INR blood test and CIBC for cash. Today we went to Mill Lake, a lovely spot for walking right in the middle of the city. It's stocked with fish in the summer and has a beautiful path around it. The birds were standing on the thin ice in spots.
There is an Art Gallery right at the lakeside which is a bright coral color.

Busy Week

I had a great time out for coffee with a girlfriend, we visited friends in Langely, I went to a meeting at the condo, have settled on 3 paint choices for the outside of the building, (silver fox, mossy green or the original pink - Mediterranean style), Ron had his 'stress test' at the hospital, and we checked out Abbotsford today. I've been packing all the food as we're going house sitting Sunday until April 1st when our friends get home from Hemet Ca. When you are driving around this city, you have many views of Mt. Baker. I checked the Info Center for pools and gyms and it is a lovely area with many things to do. Can't believe I had a son turn 47 yesterday.

Isaiah's 9th Birthday

It's been so much fun having a winter at home. Don't get me wrong - definitely prefer southern California's sunshine in winter. Today we had a family birthday for Isaiah, the first we've attended in 7 years - how cool it that?

Happy New Year 2012

Where does the time go? When you're having this much fun, it just flies! We had a great party at CJ and Joan's and it was a joy to celebrate the New Year with all our friends.
