On the Road Again - Heading North

We had a great day today – very relaxed. We fueled up at Pilot on Indian Canyon @ $4.27’9 and headed west on I 10 passing a convoy of soldiers on tanks. 

West on 210 to good old I 5 starting north. The hills of the Grapevine always make me a little anxious when the wind started pushing us on that long 6 mile 6 percent downhill with 2 run away exits  but all went well.

 We started to see the oil wells in farmers back yards, one surrounded by grape vines. My kind of real estate. 

Parked at Lost Hills where the RV Park is closed and for sale so we’re at the back of Carl’s Jr. Guess we’d better support them for breakfast right? Fueled here at Pilot for $4.23’9 with their RV Plus card. If you don’t have one it’s 6 and 8 cents off for gas and diesel.

Busy Goodbyes

Tomorrow we hit the road again. Time to head home.
We had Don and Lila come over on their golf cart yesterday.
Today was St. Patrick's Day with Sirloin Burgers at the clubhouse. Our bocci/pool crowd was there. Ron won his final bocci game with Peter H. Thur and I won my final pool game with Dan as partner Sat.
1/2 hamburgers for next year. It cracks us up. Winners used to get a $4 hamburger as first prize, then it was $5 burgers. This year the price is $6 so you get $3 off a burger so we call the prize 1/2 burgers.
\pat was suitable dressed.

The hamburgers were good and we all had our mouths full.

Starting Goodbyes

Fay and Dan invited the group for a happy hour today, but seeing as they are in Desert Pools right now with NO shade and it's 95 degrees, they had it at Pat and Donna's. As usual with this great group of friends we had a terrific time with many laughs. We will certainly miss these people when we leave Monday.

More Fun with Old Friends

While Vicki golfed with the 3 fellows, Pete came here for bocci with Ron and I  got to visit with Shirley. Not being able to come down last year we really missed all these friends. We went to see Chuck and Shirley's  mobile they bought in Corkill Palms and have totally redone.  It's lovely, a lot of hard work. We enjoyed happy hour with more friends, then dinner and had a great time. Thanks for a great time.

A Desert Walk with Ida

Can you believe it? - it's taken us this long to finally get a walk together. We hiked up the hills behind the RV park which we are overlooking here right and over to San Gegorio Mountains. Someone has placed a cross up here. In another spot someone has replaced the old stuffed armchair that used to be here, with a painted cedar ding chair that should be at the head of the dining room.

Had a lovely hike and fun with Ida.

Old Crescent Beach Friends

We met down at the Souplantation for lunch today with 2 couples from the 60's when we all lived down at the beach. No phones, no street lights but tons of fun together with Don teaching us how to make spaghetti, playing cards with our private stashes of pennies and scaring ourselves silly with the Quigy Board.  

Going to miss the Desert and the Flowers

We have just had the greatest winter - but then, don't I say that every year? The flowers are coming out now and the cacti are blooming. They are so unique. This one on the right is like a yucca bottom and this 14' spear is it's flower.

 These little barrel cacti are all over. this one has 7 more blooms ready to pop out.

This is a dead looking red aloe type until these pretty flowers pop up.
This one below is  down by the lower swimming pool and corner store.
