A Quilt for Josh

I'm making a quilt for Josh who's 16. I've commandeered worn out blue jeans from the fellows that work around the park so they show tears, seams, labels and old paint. I'm thinking that a teen won't want a quilt that is too neat and fancy. It's my usual fun, creating as I go. I always back them with flannel because it's so cosy but it is a stretchy fabric, so hard to sew with. I'm a lucky gal - not everyone has a 12 x 16' sewing room like I do to lay out the 3 layers so see how it looks.

Whistler, B.C.

We have the motorhome in the shop for a few days so we're staying at friends. We went up to Whistler today, which neither of us have visited for 10 -20 years. The new Sea to Ski Highway is beautiful, a delight to drive. It took us 2 1/2 hours from White Rock, passing Shannon Falls and the Squamish Chief rock climbing mountain on the way. The old Husky station is in the same spot, a little updated, but Creekside is as we knew it, is completely gone, just hotels now. We toured the upper village and walked all along the Village Stroll from Marketplace right up to Skiers Plaza. There was no one at the bottom of the gondola but we heard there was still 15' of snow at the top. We dodged a rainy mist part of the time by walking under the veranda of the shops. There are some rather fancy spots along the way. There is a nice memorial beside a man made creek honoring the luger that died on the course at the Olympics. I couldn't even figure out where we bought our tickets when I used to take the kids skiing. Has this place ever grown up!!! We saw 2 black bears in separate spots on the way home, have wakened up from hibernation by now. We stopped at the North Van Quay for coffee to wait out some of the evening rush hour. It was fun to look across to the Vanc skyline.

Party at Crescent Beach

One of our group rented a house in Crescent Beach for a month for their relatives to visit from overseas. They took advantage of this and held a party the last night. It was at the end of Gardiner, where I raised my kids so it felt like old home week for me. The old red barn had a racquetball court in it and the boys used to play there all the time.

Joan's Birthday

We celebrated Joan's birthday tonight at Pool. Karaoke was also going on, so there was lots of action and fun.

Here We Go Again

The Realty World gals came to my place for lunch today and tried out my 'getting famous' Jambalaya. It was a hit and we had a fabulous time as usual. We worked together in the 80's.

Great Weekend

We had a very nice holiday weekend at home. Friday night was our usual Pool fun. Saturday we enjoyed dinner at CJ and
Joan's with fun pool games as well.
Monday Ron went walking with a friend while his wife and I went out to Fort Langley to browse around. She had never been there and we weren't disappointed. We lucked into seeing their May Day Parade and discovered many lovely shops. The best was a Cranberry Shop that had absolutely delicious stuff.
That night we had dinner at another friends which was very good and Bid Euchre cards which great fun.

High School Friends

Nine of our old high school class from St. Ann's Academy, met for lunch today. We just feel so lucky to have friendships that have lasted 58 years. Needless to say, a good time was had by all.
