Girl's Weekend at Lummi Island

Celine and I went south Thur morning and did all the shopping. We declined lunch but had a 3 sailing wait so grabbed some cheese in a bun with fresh grapes and had a picnic at the ferry dock. Yummy.

The Native influence is apparent.

We opened up the cabin, laundry house, Vicki's camper and filled all the humming and bird feeders.

Communal cooking is done on the outside porch kitchen while we enjoy the fire, birds and chipmunk. Celine treated us to macaroni and cheese Thur, Lasagna Fri and our usual delicious turkey Sat.

When I want some quiet, I go walking and sit on the porch of what I call 'my cottage' where no one seems to come and I love watching the ocean in this peaceful setting.

It's only 20' by 30' but is charming.

Usual Campground Fun

We keep busy with all our great neighbours. We went to the Artful Dodger for Wendy's birthday.

We went down to the old O.B. The kids used to hang out at the Ocean Beach Hotel in their teens, then it became The Hemingway and now has graduated to the Oceanside Yacht club. We had a very nice brunch one Sunday with Debby and Richard and a crowd.

Had Jan over for drink on my birthday.

Decorating the Office

Having a great weekend with Suzanne and kids. Lexi and I took Buster for a walk on the beach.

We shopped for last minute things for Hana before she goes to China and enjoyed lunch at Ty's Fine Foods.

Our big job was hanging wallpaper on one office wall and started painting the rest. Looks good so far.

 And away we went on the 8:30 ferry.

Canada Day

We had another great party at our park with our friends.

                 Usual picnic hotdogs and hamburgers - very good time.

Next it was off to Cj and Joan's for fireworks.

Ma Canning's 90th

Julie arranged a beautiful party for her mom on her 90th birthday - complete surprise. It was at our local 'pink palace'.

There were about 80 family members many we've whom we've known since Julie and Suzanne met in Grade 6 in French Immersion.

                                 8 grandchildren.

                          including the first great grandchild, the newest Canadian, 8 week old baby girl of Kelly's.
