Fun with the Granddkids

There is always something happening here. I took the kids to the park today. Here's Trey hurrying to catch up.

Monthly Journey

It's' not Planes, Trains and Automobiles for me, more  like cars, buses, trains, ferry, walking and pickup by Suzanne on the other side. This is the entrance to the underground part of the BTrain going up Cambie Street to downtown Vancouver where I take the Blue Bus to Horsehoe Bay.


There was a huge heron standing by the shore at the Ferry terminal at Horseshoe Bay.

We walk off the ferry on the lower commercial truck deck. this is what it looks like with the car ramp coming down onto the deck.

A Walk through the Glades

This is a 5 acre site on 172 St. that the Stephens bought in 1956 and created beautiful rhododendron gardens like the ones he remembered from his youth in Scotland. The DeWolfs purchased it after Stephen's death and have restored and enhanced it before gifting it to the City in 2002.
You go through Azalea Walk, past the Reflection Pond with 3 fountains until you reach the Bamboo Grove.
 I enjoyed the smell of skunk cabbage.

This is a Rhododendron Rex like a dinosaur with leaves 18" large. It's a 'tree rhodo' 40' tall.

Snowbirds are Home

Well everyone is back home again and of course we gathered to hear all the news. What a great community.
One couple had a terrible experience on the drive. A vehicle pulled out in front of them not allowing any time to brake safely and they totaled their 5th wheel. 2 other couples came along and helped them pack up what they could salvage as the truck was being repaired. When they arrived here, neighbours had had their traveling unit pulled out of storage and a new home was waiting for them with flowers and beer and wine in the fridge.
Thank God they are safe and to all of you, safe travels.

Seeing Old Friends

We had a wonderful with with these old friends today. We girls all worked in the same office and we all always have such fun together.

Doreen's Birthday

We've been busy with appointments and catching up with all sorts of thing after our time away.
We had a great time at pool Friday and Ron and his partner came in first, winning $25.00.
We had a lovely time together today at the Cactus Club helping Doreen enjoy her birthday.

George Gibson

I got a real kick out of this in Gibson at Easter. The Town founder, George stands gazing over the harbour across from Molly's Reach and someone always dresses  him for the occasion.

Easter Monday

 Hana made a David Air pancake for breakfast.

then it was catch up and cleaning and we decided to have dinner down at the beach. We phoned friends to join us and no one was home so Hana phoned 8 families but no one confirmed. Off we went and were subsequently joined by 5 families.

 We went to Bonnybrook Beach and there is a great stump to climb.
The rope swing was a hit as usual .

We had smores.

Everyone said 'maybe we should try this again next year.
