Building Brian's House

We went down to Bellingham today and ran into an old Crescent Beach neighbour in the gas lineup at Costco. Great to see him. Then we drove out to Brian's house that he is building and was amazed at what's been accomplished since June 15 and how big it is. Parents Chuck and Barb have their trailer out there so we enjoyed a quick visit with them. Couldn't interrupt the work that long.

Girl's Weekend

A friend has been hosting this weekend for 10 years and I finally went for the first time. We drove down I 5 and west of Ferndale Wash. We caught a 19 car ferry over  to Lummi Island, 10 minutes away.
The wharf was lined with hundreds of crab pots.
We arrived at Celine's and started visiting as 19 women set up sleeping arrangements in cabins, tents, back of vans, pickups, camper, loft, everywhere.
We sat all around the property.

It was a pleasure to spend a very fun time with such a diversified group of wonderful women, one even coming all the way from Turkey.

Friends for Dinner

Our neighbour gave us some fresh salmon from his fishing trip and Nikki and Bill came over to enjoy with us. It was incredibly delicious. We girls met in Crescent Beach 48 years ago.

Visit in Abbotsford

We visited Chris and family in Abbotsford and then Glen and Leah. As we were admiring their beautiful back yard, more friends dropped in and we had a great visit. On the way home we decided to drive past Chris and Julie's old house in Aldergrove. Who decided to do the same at the very same time? Couldn't believe it!

We went to the Fox and Hound for their wonderful Potato Nachos. Lots of 'old British' flavour here.

Visit with Brenda

We went into Vancouver to Brenda and Peter's today. After a nice lunch, we  went down to Spanish Banks and chose the spot where our family is meeting Aug 26 for a big reunion. Hope the tide is in a bit.

We will even have a bit of shade if we need it. Can't wait to get together.

A Day at the Beach

We went down to the beach today and enjoyed our annual fish and chips at the Moby Dick.
It was fun watching the train come by.
We watched sea gulls and people on paddle boards and wind surfing.

Gone Golfing.

The ladies from PBRVPark have been golfing every Friday when possible since April.
Jan and I went today. As we passed this Artesian Well, it made me think of the floods of the Fraser River in 1948. It was announced on CKNW that everyone in the district could get 1 pail of water at our house because we had such an unlimited supply from our artesian well when many had none due to flooding. Mom and I made sandwiches for the workers and Dad and Peter went filling sandbags for dykes.
We sure had fun - many laughs.

Pretty Mailboxes

The sun has finally arrived. As I walk down 0 Ave to the ocean, I enjoy the painted mailboxes along the way.

Leaving Gibsons

The girls were fooling around last night with masks.
Another example of our working coastline. Home I go in rain.

Gibson's Street Art

There have been hand painted banners here, done by 29 local artists since 1997.
They are 2 x 5 feet, painted on both sides and hang for 2 years, when the artists can buy their own or they are auctioned off by the town. It is certainly very colourful and cheery.

Canada Day

Started off cool but out came the sun and what a great day. We started off with a visit to James and the Volunteer Firefighters on the ladder truck which kids got to climb inside.
The Bouncy Castle is always a hit. Today's event was held in Winegarden Park, right on the water. There were even free paddling lessons in the Harbour.
We enjoyed the Legion Bagpipe Band, a car Show and Shine, all sorts of community musicians and sang Oh Canada together in front of the bandstand. Because it looks like I never go anywhere, here's Suzanne and I.
