Had a large garage sale to clear out everything not currently in use. Thank heavens for a double garage and 4 large borrowed tables we organized yesterday. I overheard Suzanne saying on the phone, 'yes, my mother is here and she cracked the whip'. Not really true, they did it themselves. Cleared the entire garage with leftovers donated to the Sally Ann.
Lucky us, we finished our day with dinner at M and F's. What a delight
to have an extended family. We all brought food, the kids watched a
movie while adults visited, hide and seek in the back yard and great
company.

Weiner Roast
We met 2 other families at Bonnybrook Beach tonight for the 'end of the school year' wiener roast. First time our Firefighter has let us have a fire, below the tide line of course.
We had a blast. The sun came out for the occasion and we even got warm.

Going to Gibsons
This was interesting. Ron had his heart checkup in Surrey, which was perfect, so then I jumped on the Skytrain and went downtown through New West and Burnaby, new route for me. How things have grown and changed! We passed the Canucks arena, a different view.
I have never seen the bus so packed going to the Horeshoe Bay ferry, standing room only.
We hung out that evening. Lexi read us the book she is writing and then we all told about the most embarrassing things that have ever happened to us. Hilarious. Unfortunately, I seemed to have had the most, could it be my maturity?

We get the Cake
We had a great gathering at Carol and Johns to celebrate all the June birthdays. There are about 8 of us and we've already celebrated a special 65 and 70 but tonight we got the cake.
There was Kareoke, pool and lots of conversation.

Gateway Gardens
We joined friends looking at a modular home in this complex, then joined Pete and Sandy to see how they've done theirs. This is a 'breezeway' porch Pete is adding.
and here are Sandy and Celine in the kitchen. A lovely life style.

Great Nanny's Scones
When Penny and I were in nurse's training in downtown Vancouver, we used to visit Penny's grandmother, Great Nanny and she would feed us fresh scones. Her original recipe was from her mother back in Scotland. We stopped by and Ron was just pulling 2 trays out of the oven. Guess how much we enjoyed them hot.
I don't think she had measuring spoons in those days.

Heading Home
We had a lovely dinner with Chuck and Karen and the two girls Sunday night.
Headed home Monday and stopped an hour down the highway in Merritt in the Nicola Valley for coffee.
This city is called the Country Music Capital of Canada and used to have the Merritt Mountain Music Festival every year. They have a`Walk of Fame` which consists of many murals painted around town.
They also have stations dedicated to specific artists like this one of glen Campbell.
The Coldwater Hotel, located in the heart of Merritt, was constructed in 1908 and its copper covered cupola is a Merritt landmark. The hotel is still in operations with a restaurant, pub and banquet facilities.
You could clearly see the 8`snow pack on top of the mountain coming down towards Hope.
Got home about 3:30 after a nice trip.

Carmel Bay Resort
We arrived at Blind Bay on the Shuswap Lake for our family wedding. Ron's family is here from Kitimat, Prince George, Calgary and Edmonton. It's been 6 years since we've seen some of them. We snuggled into our chalet shared with 2 other families and BBQ'd for dinner. Cards were played and we girls went to a fun shower for Taiya where the bridal group had manicures, pedicures and we played a funny game with suggestions for the wedding couple. We finished our evening making favours for the wedding guests.
