More Beachtime and fun

We started with a boat ride down to the dock for gas. Cary decided to ski back without a wetsuit. Suzanne, Rosemary and James skied later. Even the dog has a life jacket.
We had lots of beach fun, tons of talking and catching up on so many activities and kids. Hana led them through the sprinkler. Cary took them on ATV rides. We ended with cards on the deck in the dark.

Family Reunion in Nelson

Brother Peter and Bijou picked me up at 8 a.m. and we had a great ride to Osoyoos where we stopped for lunch at the Veteran's Park on the lake causeway. We arrived at 3:30 and joined the family on Rosemary and Alex's beach. The kids were out tubing and riding in the boat having a ball. Lexi and I were on vegetable detail for dinner and later everyone lay on the deck in the dark and watched the milky way and some amazing shooting stars.

Long time Kitimat friends

Thadene and David came down today for a great visit and delicious dinner. They are so busy it was a treat to get together. Not like us retired folks sitting on our duff all day. Ron and David found the Scotch bottle and had to have a toast.

Fun with Friends

Since Ron's Angiogram July 6, he's been taking it easy as per Dr's orders. We have an appointment with our cardiac surgeon Aug. 2. I helped Penny, my friend from nursing with her garage sale ( from their house of 40 years) on Sat. We had lots of fun and she got rid of all the stuff she wanted to. She treated me to lunch and a manicure and pedicure which we loved. We had dinner at Liz's with 9, lunch at Marty and Bills, roast lamb at Kathy and Bill's with 6, and today 8 of us went to the Olive Garden in Bellingham. This was a first for Debby and Richard as she's just retired.

Surrey Museum

I was in Cloverdale and stopped at our Museum which I'd never seen. It is quite new and nicely done. They have a Textile Center and many programs on every subject you can think about. The current exhibit is Stellar Space. The museum starts with aboriginal people from thousands of years ago, through the early settlers, trades, road and equipment. Nicely done. There is even an original one room cabin built in 1837 from original settlers.

2 Rainbows

We had a forecast of rain from Mon night to Saturday but eluded it with sunshine. Just now 7 p.m. we had a rainbow in the east, then a 2nd one 20 min later. There even seemed to be a 3rd red ring under the other 2. Never seen this before. We were clear here, then rain sprinkles and broken sky to the west.

Charlie's Purple Martens

These birds have made their home in a speaker on Charlie and Vicki's deck. They've been returning for the last 4 years. Once they started coming out to learn how to fly, Charlie build them a deck of cardboard, as they were on a 4" railing. they only practiced for about a week and now they've flown away.

Suzanne and Hana are here

We met at Star of the Sea for Auntie Marie's funeral. She was diagnosed in June with pancreatic cancer and died July 3. I used to go into New West in my little back Austin, pick up Marie and her kids and go to the park, followed by hotdogs. Tons of good memories for the family. It was so sad to lose her but lovely to see all the family.
We went down to Moby Dicks for fish and chips. just delicious. The clam Chowder had Ron and Suze drooling and it was garnished with a dill whale. Suze and Hana stayed overnight so we swam and hot tubbed.

Ida and Darrell

We had our winter pool and bocci friends from Catalina Spa in Desert Hot Springs CA visit today. Ron was taking it easy from yesterday' procedure, so I drove them to the end of O Ave. to the Peach Arch. It's always a surprise to people to realize that the U.S.A. in just across the ditch. We went down to the White Rock Beach through Ocean Park and Crescent Beach, through W. R., past our condo and home. It looks very dull here but the sun opened out before we got back home. It was really nice to see them.

A Vancouver Day

Ron was in VGH today for an angiogram so I had 12 hours to fill. I parked at the Hudson's Bay Company store which is still showing evidence of the Stanley Cup riots. How embarrassing to have such idiots, fellow Canadians acting that way.

I walked around the block and past the Art Gallery. The first picture is taken from the lower skating rink area looking up past a bird sculpture with a young couple smooching on the right. The next is their fountain with Hotel Vancouver reflected in the building behind.

I spent 3 years in nurses training in St. Paul's in the 60's and today I don't don't even recognize the city.

July 4th Independence Day in U.S.A.

We went down to our friend AJ's in Bellingham, who lives in a condo overlooking the bay. In addition to good company, we enjoyed the fireworks. Truly spectacular display.

Joanne's Retiement Party

Joanne has retired, sold her condo and is moving to the Shushwap. We had 8 for burgers at Donna's, met a new couple to the condo, Judy and Brad who are very interesting and had a great time. I sold Donna into the condo 19 years ago when it was brand new and we bought then too.

White Rock Fireworks

We passed on the Elks and had our Friday night pool at Joan and CJs. We had a great gang, lots of fun and free fireworks courtesy of the city.
