Goodbye to Catalina and Heading Home

Today we're off to Colton where we get a new piece of weather stripping by the front door. Tonight it's our favourite WalMart here.

We were at Mike Thompson’s RV at 8 am and had the metal wind deflector strip inserted and glued into the door. It had to rest and set overnight so we crawled back to our WalMart spot for the day. We had an app checked on our Verison SmartPhone and went for a lovely lunch at Chili’s. Tuesday morning the workers were moving concrete culverts at 7 am next to us, so they got us up and going.

We went up hwy 215 to 395 and stopped at Kramer’s Junction for brunch. Then it was over Techapapi to Lost hills where we stayed at the back of Pilot’s lot for the night.

Wed. it was up I 5 to Santa Nella for lunch at Pea Soup Andersons. This is where our Protect –a - Tow was stolen off the motorhome and car coming down last Oct. We were relieved the new one was still there when we came out. We enjoyed the signs on the citrus groves announcing the crops like the Mandarins here. O/N at Rolling Hills Casino at Corning.

Thur took us up and over the Siskiyous. Lake Shasta was at the highest level we've seen in 10 years. The drought is over for now. We climbed out of Calif into ORE. After lunch at the Petro in Phoenix we drove through green Ore up and down their mountains to 7 Feathers Casino at Canyonville. We put in $200 Diesel at $4.05/gal, cheapest yet and when I joined their Players Club to get their discount. I got $25.00 in free slot play. You couldn’t cash in the free play but I managed to get gamable up to a $28.04 credit which I could. I am not the luckiest slot player. Friday took us through ORE into WASH. I’m getting braver by the day, I drove through Portland. We’ve had fabulous weather, 72 F all the way of beautiful sunshine. We landed at WalMart in Chehalis and finally got rain showers.

Sat. was a short hop, past the Tacoma Dome ,through Seattle , up to Tulalip Casino. A few showers and sunshine. Tidied up, cut Ron’s hair, I’d got a cut in Chehalis, got the list ready for the border. We’ll stop in Blaine and see Chuck and Barb tomorrow and be back at PBRVP by noon. Home for the summer.

College of the Desert

We met Glen, Leah, Ric and Chayla at the big swap meet at COD. There sure is an amazing amount of stuff that is quite different from home. The girls tried on hairpieces that stood straight up. No idea who'd wear those!!! We did find a shady spot to rest while we waited for the others and then had lunch at the Olive Garden.
We finished our day with happy hour at Willy and Jo's and said goodbye to our friends.

Golden Village RV Park

Today is the 3rd birthday of our 2008 Phaeton Coach - imagine, we've been living in it 3 years and still as happy as ever. We're having a great time in this Park. It is an older mobile home park with wonderful facilities. There is a sand volleyball court, 2 water volleyball pools and a big main one, plus 2 hot tubs. There is a great library, card room and 10 pool tables. There are many activities, dances and all. I enjoyed a cheeseburger at the pool one day listening to the singer at the cabana.

Off to Hemet

Well we've really enjoyed the past 12 days and off to Hemet tomorrow. We gather at the lower pool and bob around chatting about everything under the sun, most people sitting on their noodles - I'm a purist -paddling for exercise. You learn many new things, mostly about where to go for great food. Yesterday when it hit 80 degrees, there must have been 75 people in this pool.
We had 2 days of fierce wind blowing and this cracked me up this morning when Ida and I were walking - were they holding the fence down by tying it to the bumper of the truck?????
Next thing was the cat with it's pet door through the wall of the motorhome to it's little outside space. What next?

Garage Sale Hunting

We've developed a pattern - I go over to Don and Lila's and I drive their golf cart and Lila and I cruise all around Desert Crest, their Park to the fall and spring garage sales. Well, we did ourselves proud. We scored many things, pots and pans for someone who needs them, things to sew for the granddaughters of dolls and pets. Good practice for learning how to use the sewing machine. We had a lovely sunny day and lots of fun.
