Sewing Day

We went to Church this morning. Suzanne said the "Prayers for the People", very well done. The children did a skit of the early church instead of a sermon and that was fun.
The girls and I did some sewing today. Lexi was more interested in cleaning the sewing machine than sewing. What a little mechanic. She told me I could do the sewing and she did the thread cutting and was in charge of pins. We made a pillow to match her quilt which she lined all her stuffed animals on. I also made her some red and white polka dot shorts.
I've certainly enjoyed my time here. S and I had a hot tub every night under the stars. Going home tomorrow.

Some beach time

Busy day. I watched Hana's swimming lesson. She loves the water now and is learning to dive, which involves pointing her hands, leaning forward and then jumping straight in. I'm sure this will come later. More sewing, Hana is making a pair of Capri's instead of shorts and decided to add the top fabric to the hem so she can roll them up for an accent.
We went to Hana's dance recital which I really enjoyed. It was great and all the kids looked like they were really having a fun time.
We met another couple for fish and chips down on the beach for supper. Lovely place they where they live.

Sports Day

Off to school sports day. It was fun to see Hana with her classmates and friends and some of the moms I've met. They had all sorts of different stations with different activities. Hana had her face painted like a Lion.

Off to Gibsons

Ron and I met Suzanne today at Park and Tilford Gardens in N Van where she was giving a Motivational Speech. I had about 10 minutes to enjoy the landscaping, very well done. This bush had blossoms that went from rose to pink to white. Very pretty, have never seen one before. We had $150 worth of stuff from Costco for her so we did a quick transfer and raced for the ferry. We were 2 minutes late for boarding but the very kind attendant let us zip down to the ramp. By the time we got upstairs, we were moving. Food etc is very expensive on the coast. Butter is $6.50 but I got 4 from Costco for $3.70 each. We figured her order saved them about $100.

A Baby Book

We went off and did the usual errands and then popped in to see Ron and Penny. We had a great visit with the usual political debates and conversations about 10 different topics. We ladies discussed and viewed quilting projects. I gave Lilah a cloth book of different colors that Hana and I made last July when I taught her how to sew, at age 6. As usual, the baby liked eating it as much as looking at it.

Off to Kamloops

We did a day trip to Kamloops today. First, we visited our friend Chuck who was released from hospital yesterday after a nasty bout of pneumonia and blood poisoning. We were glad to see him home.
Then we spent the afternoon with my sister Rosemary and family, celebrating our newest arrival, Liam. Darling baby, all he did was sleep and eat. It was really fun to see the other 3 kids playing in the yard together. K made a great cake, a blue dinosaur - big hit. It was a great visit, having the time just to relax and enjoy the six of them.
B.C. is really the prettiest place. We really enjoyed the day and drive.

Fraser Valley Quilt Show

I went to Cloverdale for this biennial quilt show and it was terrific, equally as good as the one we went to in Palm Springs last year. Amazing, the imagination of some of the women.

Busy Sewing

I've been busy sewing these days. I've finished the quilt for Isaiah, diamonds with a flannel back of sports balls -soccer, baseball, basketball etc. Now I've just finished 3 book covers for a friend and my 2 nieces. It was neat to sew outside.

Jambalaya and cards

We've been busy with friends and lots of activities. We had 2 couples over for my New Orleans jambalaya and played our famous card game 'the witch'.
Lovely weather, my herb garden ( that's basil, parsley, chives and tarragon) in my one pot is doing great. I put the mauve mum that the kids gave me in there as well.

Swimming in the Rain

Can't get used to this weather! Actually it seems to rain overnight and clear later in the day. It amazing what a gal has to do to get her exercise done. I'm on my way to our indoor the swimming pool.

Mother's Day

We had the kids over for a visit on Mother's Day. Fun to be together.
Ron and I were shopping this week and drove around the new shopping center across from WalMart. It's called a SmartCenter, a chain of malls and designed to look like a village with the homes just at the end of the street. All shiny and new. We're getting fairly trendy around here.

Patti's Party

We had a great party for Patti's birthday Sat at Carol and Johns. The first part of the evening was the Canucks game, of course. There's lots of room, inside and out on the patio by the fireplace.

A Quilt for Isaiah

We've been having lots of fun with friends and pool on Friday nights. I've been making a quilt for Isaiah, age 6. It's got flannel on the back for coziness and I used it for the center on the front diamonds, as well as the edging. It look great and I've had fun doing it. It was easier to do some work up at the clubhouse. At one point, I had 3 tables and the ironing board on the go.

Watch them Grow!

We had a very pleasant day with Chris and Julie and our grandkids. we enjoyed seeing the re-done living room wood floors in the hall. Very nice. We sat outside in the sunshine , saw the new hot tub on the patio and heard about the plans to finish the yard. It's a great family home and they've done a good job with their projects. The boys are 15, 13 and 6 and they sure are growing. Josh wasn't even standing up straight and we're starting to look like shrimps/

A Walk in the Park

I'm swimming Tue, Thur, Sat and walking with Pooch Mon, Wed, Friday. We go out of the park and along O Ave. running along the U.S. border, right to the Peace Arch. We walk through the U.S. side where there are several sculptures, rose garden and many other planted areas. Then we go into the Canadian side, up through their gardens, past the new Duty Free store, and head back home. It's over a mile so maybe I'll get fit.
